~~~ Web Site Design ~~~
|
So you're probably reading this and asking yourself;
Why should I hire someone to design a web site for me?
With all the web site design software out there, anyone can build a web site.
That last statement is correct. However, building a web site that works is another story.
But Hiring a web site designer is expensive!
Well, the fact of the matter is, if you think a professional is expensive, try hiring an amateur.
The difference between hiring a professional and an amateur is that with a professional, the cost is up front.
Hiring an amateur is only less expensive at the development stage. If your web site does not load quickly and
properly for all visitors; if it does not look professional and appeal to your potential customers,
you will continue to pay for your choice in lost potential sales or no visitors at all.
Anyone can buy Frontpage or Dreamweaver and offer web site design - and they do. The web site design software
isn't the problem. Software doesn't build bad web sites, people do but most people are, and always have been, bad
content creators.
Unfortunately, price is not the factor by which you can judge quality. I've seen and repaired poorly designed
web sites that cost the owner thousands. You can have the best product or service in the world, but if you have
a poorly designed web site, you're going to lose visitors and potential sales.
According to a consumer survey by Consumer Web Watch, the factors shoppers use to judge the credibility of a
web site are "Design Look" (46.1%) and "Information Design" (28.5%).
If you think your current web site could be doing better...
NOTE:
Interestingly enough, your competition will judge you by the quality of your information. So, if you sell
health products, other health professionals will judge your credibility by the information you give on your
web site. But your potential new customers, 75% of them, will judge you by your web site design and you seldom
get a second chance to make a good first impression when dealing with the internet.
